3D Landform Project
- Goal: To create a small 3D model of an imaginary continent that features 10 landforms (each labeled)
- Instructions: Use a piece of wood, cookie sheet or cardboard of suitable thickness. Please make them at least 18 inches square but no larger than 24 inches square. Use modeling clay or salt clay to create an imaginary continent. Give it a name. Include 10 landforms. Label each type of landform (cliff, river, canyon, etc…) Continent should be painted or otherwise colored appropriately (grassy areas: green; snow-covered mountaintops: white; oceans, rivers, lakes: blue; etc…). Other materials can be used as needed (toothpicks for label flags; paint; markers, colored paper, etc…).
- Purpose: The point of this project is to teach students how constructive and destructive forces shape the Earth. Extra points are NOT offered for fanciness or store-bought additions.
